No one should face breast cancer alone
The 2023 year theme for breast cancer awareness month is a great reminder to all women that prevention, detention and the treatment is better than suffering from breast cancer alone and avoiding your loved ones to be a part during your struggle should be changed.
Breast Cancer occurs when a malignant tumor develops in breast tissue. When abnormal cells in the breast grow uncontrollably, it results in a lump or mass.It is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in women.Despite the lack of understanding about the exact cause of breast cancer, certain risk factors can increase the chances of developing it.
There are different types of breast cancer but common symptoms of breast cancer may include a lump or a mass, changes in the size of the breast, skin changes, nipple discharge and breast pain, but at the early stage of breast cancer, these symptoms are not noticeable, therefore, a regular check up is essential for every woman.
It’s important for individuals to be proactive about their breast health, seek regular medical check ups, and in some cases, undergo genetic counseling, if there is a family history of breast cancer.
Due to fear, anxiety, and embarrassment, women often don’t go for check-ups. Additionally, they are certain that they won’t be diagnosed with cancer. But early detention is helpful to proceed the treatment, and the treatment options for breast cancer depend on the type and the stage. It’s not shameful thing to go for check ups but some women skip or delay because they are scared to hear the bad news, and some women think that they are not deserved for this, and these thinking patterns could change into anger and the world of them could turn upside down too, eventually they need to understand that the early treatments could cure them than delaying it.
All the women out there need to understand that once you are diagnosed, you don’t have to feel that you are alone in this journey or this is not curable because early treatment can help you for a better recovery and the family support is necessary to go through with this process, therefore, never be afraid or embarrassed to ask help if you have any doubts. And also,as a family, it’s important to understand that breast cancer is not a shameful thing and avoid letting this influence her thoughts, which could also affect her mental tranquility.
In closing, let us remember that breast cancer awareness is not just a month long campaign, it’s a year round commitment to education, support, and early detection. The journey towards a world without breast cancer requires our collective efforts, from spreading knowledge to extending a helping hand to those affected. We can work together to empower individuals, save lives, and work towards a future where breast cancer is a disease of the past.We need to continue raising awareness, inspiring hope, and working towards a world where breast cancer no longer takes the lives of loved ones.
